Safe deep frying right? #DFT2014

Bubbling away. Notice the level of oil?

DFT2014 safety tip: Do NOT overfill your pot w/ too much peanut oil.

The majority of the fires that occur from the frying a turkey comes from overfilling the oil.

Like a consummate professional, before I deep-fried my turkey, I measured how much oil to put in the pot.

Pot + stand + turkey + fill with water

Fill to cover bird

Once you fill it, remove the bird.

Mark the level of the water and empty.

After you empty the water and dry out the pot, fill the pot up with peanut oil to the same level as the water.

Easy right?

Planning and preparing this way will help ensure you don’t have any overflow on your deep fryer.

Again, no one wants to have this…
