Need a Managing Floodplain Development Through the National Flood Insurance Program (E-273)?

Hosting agencies: FEMA/OEMA, Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM), and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR)

Description: This is the field deployed version of the EMI E273 course. This course is designed to provide an organized training opportunity for local officials responsible for administering their local floodplain management ordinance. The course will focus on the NFIP and concepts of floodplain management, maps and studies, ordinance administration, and the relationship between floodplain management and flood insurance.

Prerequisites: Participants must complete the General Admissions Application and the following online tutorials:

1. Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) tutorial at http://www.fema.gov/media/fhm/firm/ot_firm.htm  (30 minutes)
2. Federal Insurance Studies (FIS) tutorial at http://www.fema.gov/media/fhm/fis/ot_fis.htm (40 minutes)

CFM Exam (Optional)
CFM Exam will be offered on Friday, January 16 from 9am – 12pm.  The 273 course is for enhancement and/or refresher only and not intended to prepare attendees to pass the exam.  Exam takers should not expect to pass the CFM Exam without additional study. ASFPM recommends exam takers review the materials on the CFM Exam Preparation Guide prior to sitting for the exam.  Separate registration and fees required to sit for the CFM Exam payable to ASFPM. Exam application materials and fee must be submitted to Anita Larson, Certification Coordinator at ASFPM 575 D’Onofrio Dr. Ste. 200, Madison, WI 53719. Exam questions can be directed to cfm@floods.org or call 608-828-3000. Exam application and fee must be submitted to ASFPM by Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in order to sit for the CFM exam on January 16th.
