Erica Creech is the Corporate Communications & Marketing Manager for MTD Products Inc, a global leader in the design and manufacture of outdoor power equipment with brands such as Cub-Cadet, Troy-Bilt, Remington, Yard Machines, and more. In this role, Erica manages MTD’s corporate brand and internal communications strategies, media relations and crisis communications, and corporate partnerships.


Previously, Erica served as Communications Manager for the City of Cleveland, Ohio Department of Public Utilities. Here, she managed the department’s Communications Unit overseeing content strategy, social media, crisis communications, media relations, and employee communications for Cleveland Water, Cleveland Public Power and Cleveland Water Pollution Control.


Before coming to Public Utilities, Erica was responsible for Crisis Communications and Public Information for the City of Cleveland Department of Public Safety and Office of Emergency Management. She began her career with the City of Cleveland in 2006 in the Mayor’s Office of Communications as Mayor Frank G. Jackson’s Deputy, then Acting Press Secretary, and later as Communications Manager. Prior, Erica worked several years in private sector financial services.


Erica has provided Joint Information System and Center leadership for major incidents such as the shooting at SuccessTech High School, the Imperial Avenue Murders, Superstorm Sandy, H1N1 and Ebola, and the discovery of Amanda Berry, Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus. She has also led planning and Joint Information System and Center operations for many large pre-planned events such as the 2016 Republican National Convention, the 2016 Cavaliers Championship Parade, Gay Games 9, Senior Games, and more. Erica was also responsible for the implementation of the first communications and social media strategies for Cleveland Police and the Department of Public Safety.


In addition to a bachelor’s degree from Heidelberg University and a master’s degree from DePaul University in communications, Erica was one of 21 communicators across the country chosen to complete FEMA’s Master Public Information Officer pilot program. She is a certified public information instructor for the Ohio Emergency Management Agency (OEMA) and has also been featured as a guest speaker at various conferences and events including the Ohio PIO Symposium, the Wisconsin Crime Information Bureau Conference and Ohio Environmental Health Association Northwest Conferences.
