Breaking it down today w/ the crew from @fema Region-5 (Rolandoooooooooo) in Detroit Michigan today.
WARREN, MICH. – The Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) report more than 122,000 southeast Michigan residents affected by the August floods have registered for assistance and nearly $216 million in federal disaster assistance has been approved. Survivors are strongly encouraged to register for FEMA assistance by the Dec. 14 deadline.
FEMA has approved $131 million in grants, while the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved $84.9 million in low-interest loans. Applications must be received by the December date to be considered for assistance from FEMA and the SBA; however, disaster funds will continue to flow beyond that date.
Storm-affected homeowners and renters in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties may be eligible for federal grants to help cover various disaster-related expenses including essential home repairs, personal property losses and other disaster-related needs not covered by insurance.
Homeowners are eligible to apply for SBA low-interest loans up to $200,000 to repair or replace disaster damaged primary homes.
The SBA loan application deadline is Dec. 15, 2014

Hello Detroit!
Great quote from US Attorney General Eric Holder last night as he was interrupted by protestors in a church in Atlanta.
“There will be a tendency on the part of some to condemn what we just saw, but we should not,” Holder said. “What we saw there was a genuine expression of concern and involvement. And it is through that level of involvement, that level of concern and I hope a level of perseverance and commitment, that change ultimately will come.
Perhaps retool it a bit so every PIO has this canned message ready to go:
“There will be some that will frown upon what we just saw, but we should not. In fact, what we really saw there was a genuine expression of concern and involvement. Because, this is America…and that is what we do. We are a nation of change led by engagement. By the people, for the people.”
I even included a little bit of the Gettysburg Address in there. #Merica

You are welcome.

I’m sure you’ve seen this posted on Facebook somewhere.
But upon closer look, there is some pixilation to be had.
Skeptical of the internet? You know I am.
You can search the meta data from the picture above for the GPS coordinates of the modified image so you can see exactly who “enhanced” the picture and where it was done.
Additionally, you can see what kind of software they used to “enhance” the picture and of course when they modified the picture (date/time).
But to simplify it, here’s the original image from the River Front Times (St. Louis Alternative Newspaper)
To further vet the original picture from the RFT, you can then search for the photographer (RFT Intern Mitch Ryals @mitchryals ) original image and see what kind of camera was used (iPhone 5c gold), when it was shot/used (September 2014) and of course the coordinates of the picture as it is impressioned by the GPS coordinates in the picture (which happens to be around N: 38.740942 x W: -90.303586 or 222 S. Florissant Rd in Ferguson, MO).
Obviously, this is an “enhanced” image of the picture. It was an original blog post related to the Ferguson Police in Missouri and the person who enhanced it, intended it to be used to change the voice of a protestor on site directly in front of the Ferguson Police Department.
Me? I’m all about our country’s 1st amendment – free speech…however, I don’t think photoshopping is really legal.
Remember a few things:
Shout out to Christopher Post who pushed me to write about this today.
