Emergency Services

Burning the midnight oil..

Some days, you just gotta burn the midnight oil at the office.

I’m not saying you work your fingers to the bone or sacrifice your health/well-being. But sometimes you gotta put a little more effort than other leaders.

If people think leadership is easy, then you are doing it right.

So as I sit in the office blaring Metallica, I also reflect for a bit as I had to advocate hard for my team this week. Seems like something so trivial, but standing firm for the team goes a long way.

What. A. Day.

September actions

September is shaping up to be a busy month. And citing recent news, I should probably beef up our security response planning.

Week-1 will include our IPPG meetings and a VIP visit from the U.S. Department of Energy Deputy Secretary James Danley.

Week-2 planning on COOP and running through the new workplace violence program with the rest of the directorate. And as Emergency Management, we gotta follow up on the AAR/IP meeting. If all goes well, my EM program will get the chance to pilot that new apparel program.

Week-3 will be all the candidate interviews for our new Deputy Fire Chief, end of year employee evaluations, and our first ICS-300 class delivery at Argonne.

Week-4 will be assigned to supporting Region-9 in Guam.

Happy National Preparedness Month!

Trust me, we need a little Ben

Whoa.

I want one.

I mean, we have some big buildings right?

Ben, you said our onsite hydrant pressure was really good right?!? I promise you can nickname it the “Little Ben”

Well, maybe we can put Chicago Fire’s new 6-7-3 aka Deluge Wagon on our box card. 6-7-3 resides in CFD’s Special Operations division.
