September actions

September is shaping up to be a busy month. And citing recent news, I should probably beef up our security response planning.

Week-1 will include our IPPG meetings and a VIP visit from the U.S. Department of Energy Deputy Secretary James Danley.

Week-2 planning on COOP and running through the new workplace violence program with the rest of the directorate. And as Emergency Management, we gotta follow up on the AAR/IP meeting. If all goes well, my EM program will get the chance to pilot that new apparel program.

Week-3 will be all the candidate interviews for our new Deputy Fire Chief, end of year employee evaluations, and our first ICS-300 class delivery at Argonne.

Week-4 will be assigned to supporting Region-9 in Guam.

Happy National Preparedness Month!

Trust me, we need a little Ben

Whoa.

I want one.

I mean, we have some big buildings right?

Ben, you said our onsite hydrant pressure was really good right?!? I promise you can nickname it the “Little Ben”

Well, maybe we can put Chicago Fire’s new 6-7-3 aka Deluge Wagon on our box card. 6-7-3 resides in CFD’s Special Operations division.

Six seven…

Dad Math tonight. Then this addition problem almost derailed the entire sesh.

If they only knew how rad stuff was.

Kids…

But a good lesson for PIOs as we are constantly trying to keep up with the latest lingo on social media.

I’m definitely not an expert by any stretch, but happy that my aura is well respected by the kids.

Let me cook yo!

Sat phone partay!

Our 4th satellite phone came in today. Like gremlins, they are multiplying!

This Continuity of OPerations (COOP) effort is a phased plan that is imperative to everyone here.

It’s just another part of our COOP plan as Emergency Management leads the way for planning and coordination.

Think of it this way, it’s part of business continuity.

At any time, we have staff/SMEs around the world doing critical work. And we need instant communications with them and our global Exfil team that can deploy out immediately in an emergency.

In the near future, look to Argonne EM to lead the COOP effort for the area by providing high level training with our partners at FEMA.

Funny part, we are calling that part “Operation Kevins”
