Saturday thoughts: Your Tacticool pants

Saturday thoughts: USE YOUR POCKETS!

We talked extensively last week in our IMT LSC course, Operational readiness, and EOC course about what you should bring during a disaster in the response phase. Particularly, I get sooooo many inquiries on what to bring and have on your person 24/7.

What do I carry in my pockets? Usually I carry:

My left bellows pockets, I carry my FEMA official book as well as a printed copy of the current Incident Action Plan (IAP).

My right bellows pockets, I carry my coffee/water cup.

You paid good money for them and they are not just regular pants. Y’all got these #tacticool pants – SO USE THEM!

Again, use all the pockets!

Do not be afraid to use your equipment to it’s fullest extent.

Severe cold weather is here with wind chills at…

Holey moley it’s frickin freezing Mr. Bigglesworth!

Am I the only one out here? Hello? Hello? Anyone? Anyone?

Well, I dressed appropriately. If you were wondering, my OOTD was this.

Yaaaaaaaaaaasssssssss!!!! PPE! PPE! PPE!

So how cold is it?

Yikes. Is that right? 🥶

The wind chill is -50ish, however some of my electronic devices aren’t working quite right.

What does it feel like?

Reporting live from the planet Hoth

I lost stuff because I have 16 pockets on my pants!?!?!?!

While out today, I will be testing some new 5.11 Tactical gear.

These are the 5.11 Tactical XPRT Series pants.

I only have 16 pockets on my pants…therefore, I have already misplaced a few items.

Don’t forget, Cleveland Marathon tomorrow (Sunday 05-21-17).

Do you know the differences between Winter Storm Watch vs. Winter Storm Warning vs. Blizzard Warning?

Winter Storm Watch: There is a possibility of a storm occurring.

Winter Storm Warning: A storm is already taking place or is expected.

Blizzard Warning: Sustained winds or frequent gusts to 35 miles per hour or greater and considerable amounts of falling or blowing snow (reduced visibility to less than a quarter mile) are expected to prevail for a period of three hours or longer.

NPM vs NATLPREP – Why you should use #NATLPREP #OMG

So…I think I found out the reason why Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) doesn’t use the term “NPM” for National Preparedness Month on the Twitter.

Drumroll……………

Apparently, the internets use “NPM” for No Pants Monday.

NPM = No Pants Monday

NPM = No Pants Monday

How about them apples?

And today is Monday. Oh boy.

So, as an Emergency Manager, I’d suggest you heavily consider using the FEMA aformentioned #NATLPREP – not just “NPM”.

I’ve also seen #NPM13 or #NPM2013 or #NATIONALPREPAREDNESSMONTH or #NATIONALPREPAREDNESS

Just a simple Emergency Management observation.

Just glad to help with this small nugget of info for you.
