Awwwww yeah – National Preparedness Month starts today!
“Disasters Don’t Plan Ahead. You Can.”

Go ahead. Make an emergency plan today.

This store’s preparedness section is on fleek!
I love how they have things sectioned into different sections (kinda like by function).
Evacuation supplies seperated from foods.
And of course helmets and flashlights.
Flashlights a plenty!
I wish every store had sections like this dedicated to emergency preparedness / readiness.
Everyone should be doing #DropCoverHoldOn during today’s Great #ShakeOut national #preparedness effort.

Great ShakeOut = Thursday 10/20/16 at 10:10am.
Approx 28.5 million people are doing it. Are you?

Got invited to speak in Lincoln at the 2016 State of Nebraska Annual Cyber Security Conference. Great to have so many sponsors promoting CyberSecurity

Incidentally, next month, October is National Cybersecurity Month.
Following the FBI is always a hard act to follow. Additionally, I was the after lunch speaker. Gish.

Don’t worry, I’ll try to be serious. And yes, I’m wearing a tie.

I’ll even play a few fun videos too.

And they said try not to stand on any tables and chairs during class. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED~!

Super fun time presenting to some new peeps including those who laughed at my new cat jokes. Special thanks to NIPC’s Leslie…

…and Nebraska Emergency Management Agency’s Assistant Director Bryan and all the staff for the invite.

Since it’s still September and still National Preparedness Month, don’t forget to have your #BadDayBag ready to go too.
BTW-people often ask what I do when I get stuck at an airport for 5+ hours.

Hope this helps answer any questions.
On this #AlohaFriday – I report to the OEMA mother ship!

I had to take care of some TPSReports for ICS classes. Talked about upcoming October/November schedules with both SAAs on a few ICS-300 and ICS-400 about registration issues as well as my packed IMT class for FEMA’s USAR Ohio Task Force-1 (OH-TF-1).
I was fortunate to visit with good friends Jerry and Sima. Hilarious!
Lots of discussion on the RNC as well as National Preparedness Month.
And yes, all done with the Aloha Shirt on.
Busy Monday morning instructing at the District of Columbia Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
I’m just glad to see so many partners in public safety participating.

Trust me, I’m glad to be instructing in the Emergency Operations Center too.

So many resources here like a busy 9-1-1 call center, Watch Desk, 3-1-1 call center, and Fusion Center.

Training and education will help everyone work cohesively together in an emarrrrrrrrrrrrrgency.
Happy #TalkLikeAPirateDay too.
Slightly different Sunday view for me.

Great discussion with USSS today.
Great to see many local, state, and Federal partner agencies involved in safety/security for everyone in September – National Preparedness Month.
As you know, preparedness is everyone’s responsibility.
It’s going to be a busy weekend here.

Glad to spend part of National Preparedness Month in DC.
Suited up and heading to meetings!
Reporting live from DC…
“All I’m saying is that starting in Ohio and to the rest of the country, we have the ability to better prepare our peeps for disasters or emergencies.” – K. Sur

We all have outstanding communities in each of our 88 counties in Ohio. When they engage with numerous all-hazards public safety professionals, it becomes a whole community effort in preparedness. In essence, these are core programs that everyone can participate.

When the community gets involved, everyone wins.

So c’mon – get involved in your community.

“Don’t Wait. Communicate. Make Your Emergency Plan Today.”
It’s still the third week of 2016 National Preparedness Month!
Trust me, you don’t need to wait for the earthquakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven (to) shake – just attend a few classes with local emergency management.

Don’t get frustrated…Preparedness is easy!
But seriously.
These classes can help better prepare you for many natural disasters, hazards, and/or common emergencies.

At the very least, they can detail what kind of actions will be taken by first responders in the response phase of the disaster.
In today’s class, we had a spirited discussion about MREs and preparedness kits. Even first responders and their respective families need emergency preparedness kits too.
Most of these short classes or day-long trainings are often free and scheduled well in advance. And if you can’t attend in-person trainings, there are many online classes available for no-cost on preparedness.

Yep, you guessed it, straight up good old networking with so many public safety pros.
