National Interagency Fire Center Wildfire memorial

I was fortunate to make a stop at the National Interagency Fire Center

This is where the so many HotShots train and hone their skills

The Wildland Firefighter Foundation sought a special way to recognize firefighters after the loss of 14 lives during the 1994 South Canyon Fire. The Foundation partnered with the National Interagency Fire Center to pursue creation of a monument. Generous donations and tireless work of countless volunteers transformed a section of parking lot into a peaceful park. The Monument was officially dedicated in a ceremony on May 25, 2000.

So many placards displaying fallen Firefighters.

My SnapChat has a more in-depth story including better views w/ Spectacles.

If you ever get out to Idaho, check it out.

Be safe peeps.

Advanced Social Media classes in Idaho on PI day (3.14)! #NDPTC

Starting off this morning teaching my most favorite advanced class…

Social Media Tools & Techniques!

Lots of things to share and showcase in the Public Information Officer (PIO) and ESF-15: External Affairs realm.

Social Media tools including several Augmented Reality apps that use pre-existing hardware that could be useful for any operational and tactical operations.

Additionally many Emergency Operations Center across the country could use these technologies to augment their response and increase their situational awareness / common operating picture (SA/COP).

Great to work with so many pros who are willing to contribute to the All-hazards response.

We ran through a few crisis communications exercises activities utilizing the new social media tools we showcased.

Great conversation with participants from across Idaho and Washington.

Glad to see creative minds formulating emergency communications plans for the preparedness and response phase..

Special thanks to Ada County Emergency Management and EM Director Joe for their hospitality.

Special thanks to @AdaCountyEM Social Media Coordinator Myla for help in the EOC too. #Spectacles

Many mahalos to all my new peeps from across Idaho and FEMA Region 10.

Now use your new social media powers for good!

Limitations on editing multi-picture post on Instagram #SMEM

It appears that once you post a multiple picture Instagram post, you cannot go back and edit to tag people in the photos.

You can still edit the text portion of the instagram post.

Keep in mind that first photo has to be engaging enough to grab people’s attention to notice the multiple gram post (dots at bottom of picture).

Just swipe right.

(See what I did there?)

Good to know.

@rusnivek

Does it fit? Third looks – my #Spectacles from SnapChat Part-3

Third looks – my #Spectacles from SnapChat Part-3. This time, it’s about size.

Yep, you heard that right, it’s one size fits all.

Me? Well, I don’t exactly have a classic Caucasian face with a sharp nose and chiseled chin. But they sit kinda pinch the bridge of my nose. However, everyone wears their sunnies differently.

Tip-3: If you see someone wearing them in the wild, ask them to try it on.

(I also heard Shaq tried them on at CES this year too.)

BTW-no animals were harmed in the video.

More to come.

Second looks at my #Spectacles From #SnapChat Part-2

Here’s my second observation with SnapChat’s #Spectacles

Duh right?!?!

Additionally, I am sure you are downloading your content in HD so that drains the battery even more because you are transferring it over bluetooth.

Sucking it dry…with social media.

More tomorrow peeps.

@rusnivek

First looks at my #Spectacles From #SnapChat Part-1

Here’s my first observation with SnapChat’s #Spectacles

They are big. Here’s a comparison from my Spectacles vs an ordinary pair of Oakley Holbrook sunglasses.

Vs

Obv featuring an Engine and a Squad.

Yeah yeah, I know they are now called Snap, but I believe if you reference “Snap” this is what most everyone thinks.

More tomorrow peeps.
