2019 May is cray!

Justin Timberlake better be busy too because this month because it’s about to get redic.

First week in May, our team was invited to teach ICS-300: Intermediate ICS to leadership staff at the Illinois Air National Guard.

Second week, will be the ICS-400 class and the solid bunch of social media classes (Basic Social Media, Social Media Engagement Strategies, Social Media Tools and Techniques).

Third week, we will be popping the FEMA G0290/0291 Basic PIO and JIC/JIS course with one of my favorite FEMA DSASers…Sister Michael!

Fourth week, I will be presenting at the 2019 National Preparedness Symposium at the Center for Domestic Preparedness in Alabama.

And the last week is the full set of FEMA Basic PIO and JIC/JIS Course at Aurora Police.

If you are calculating that out, that’s 128 hours of straight classroom time.

Fortunately, I enhanced the playlist this past weekend.

Headphones in, affirm the mission and objectives, head down…No time for rest.

May we head into June 2017?

May is out like trout and June has come in with a slew of activities as well as the 2017 NBA Finals!

First week I’ll be in Missouri teaching my favorite class – Social Media Tools & Techniques and a functional social media exercise in Columbus. Yes I know, that means I won’t be attending the 2017 UASI Conference in Buffalo. #Boooo. However, my free time will be spent at Game-3 and Game-4 of the 2017 NBA Championships. #GoCavs!!!!!

Second week I will be teaching the FEMA EMI Incident Management Team Plans Section Chief Course in Cincinnati. With so many members from USAR Ohio Task Force-1 (including Schulmann) attending, it’s going to be a fun class. Are you attending?

Third week I think I got blessed with the approval to take the IMT Incident Commanders course at the home EOC in Columbus. Lemme see if I can login this time (Password “JOSHUA”).

Fourth week will be doing some tactical training including quals. #pewpew

Honestly, I just hope to stay afloat this month.

Additionally, June 2017 will serve as the foundation month for the 2018 training schedule. Who’s ready for more classes?!?!?!?

Get your learn on!

Starting off this morning teaching my most favorite advanced class…

Social Media Tools & Techniques!

Lots of things to share and showcase in the Public Information Officer (PIO) and ESF-15: External Affairs realm.

Social Media tools including several Augmented Reality apps that use pre-existing hardware that could be useful for any operational and tactical operations.

Additionally many Emergency Operations Center across the country could use these technologies to augment their response and increase their situational awareness / common operating picture (SA/COP).

Great to work with so many pros who are willing to contribute to the All-hazards response.

We ran through a few crisis communications exercises activities utilizing the new social media tools we showcased.

Great conversation with participants from across Idaho and Washington.

Glad to see creative minds formulating emergency communications plans for the preparedness and response phase..

Special thanks to Ada County Emergency Management and EM Director Joe for their hospitality.

Special thanks to @AdaCountyEM Social Media Coordinator Myla for help in the EOC too. #Spectacles
