Plan for your family and neighbors? Absolutely!
Always check on your neighbors and make sure they are OK. You never know when you are going to have to save a life. #NatlPrep
Proud Father moment…about my own Dad. You see, he saved our neighbor’s life. Like for reals.
A few weeks ago, while my Father and our family’s dog (Buster) were out in the back yard, they noticed our elderly neighbor face-down in the yard. Not knowing the situation, my Father jumped the fence and rendered immediate medical care, called 9-1-1, and helped guide the HFD Engine and C&C Ambulance to the patient.
My Dad being shy, would easily be the first one to shrug it off and downplay his actions. But it’s really small things like this that make a difference in the lives of so many.
It is in my opinion that if my Father did not jump the fence and immediately rendered aid, our neighbor would have surely died. Now, our neighbors have more time to spend with their entire family together. So I cannot stress enough the importance of doing extraordinary stuff for people…like your neighbors.
This whole week, we have focused on doing things for others. On this #AlohaFriday, I’d like you to keep my Father’s actions in mind as you do the same for your neighbors.
I am so proud of my Dad.
No matter what kind of family pet you have, please make sure when you evacuate that you take your pets with you!
Evacuating? Fur sure take your pets w/ you & bring their pet emergency preparedness kit that has food + water + meds + IDs #NatlPrep
Your plan should identify specific shelters that can shelter your pets. Big or small!
Also, if your pet is soaked because of the rain, that’s not fun. So keep an extra pet rain coat handy too.High viz is extra awesome too.

All PreparednessPups agree – Don’t get licked by poor planning.

To quote my daughter’s favorite book Go Dog Go: “Bundle up so you don’t freeze!”
Oh my.
Make sure you have adequate clothing, jackets, collars, hats, blankets, etc…
Stay warm this Winter season!
Yesterday, I supported Cleveland Police on the #PrideInTheCLE #ClevelandPride event in Public Square.
Much different from the Republican National Convention.
Lots of families out and about (and enjoying) the new cool fountain in downtown Cleveland.
Everyone was having a great time.
Lots of speculation and talk about public safety not being around to support the LGBT community – all totally false. Public Safety will be there to support any community.
Trust me, lots of public safety was on hand to support our entire community.
Cleveland Police Bomb Squad and K9 teams…
Cleveland EMS…
..even the Cleveland Police bike patrol was out supporting the day’s events.
Lots of areas to cover.
Partnerships with the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department and Cleveland Police Department are key in providing safety for everyone who attended the event.
It was a relatively hot day so I am glad that many of the participants dressed appropriately for the event.
Some not so much.
Fun entertainment and friendly people staying cool out in Public Square.
While waiting around, we had some time for a quick PIO selfie…
Also had time for a few interviews with local media.
Also happy to run into a long time good friend Mark Zinni who is the anchor for the Channel 3 Eyewitness News in Hartford, Connecticut. Great to see him again.
Thanks for the picture Zinni!
Can’t wait to see him again in Cleveland.
While out there, we even made a few new peeps into Junior Police Officers.
Thanks Ken!
We were fortunate enough to do a few live interviews on Periscope from Public Square.
We highlighted the event and gave a status report of the operations using Periscope.
Ever wonder what it’s like to hang with onscene PIOs? Here’s a behind the scenes shot of us doing some live interviews on Periscope.
Thanks for the action shot Zinni!
Trust me, it’s harder than it looks.
Overall, it was great to see so many people out on a Saturday afternoon in Cleveland.
As always, I had a great time working the PIO magic with Jen!
We make a pretty good team huh?
Hope everyone stayed dry while the rain hit.
Great safe event everyone!
Have a great weekend!
Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! It’s the last week of 2015 National Preparedness Month!
I hope you showcase your new preparedness actions this Wednesday September 30th on 2015 National Preparedness Day!
This morning, I double checked my dog’s (Kacy – my PreparednessPup) emergency preparedness kit. As you can see, I have partitioned her food in individual ziplock packages to make it easier for portion control during feeding time.
And you guessed it, there are at least 3 days of food.
Having her own pet preparedness kit and making her carry it on her own if/when we have to evacuate will be a huge help.
Pet preparedness!!!!!

Day-5 of my Jury Duty! Bueller? Bueller? Hello?
As you can see, almost all the jurors were excused for the week. Many have served and are done with their assigned cases. Some potential jurors didn’t even get called. It’s all random. So there is a strong possibility that you will get sent home if there are no cases to be had.
Aside from the typical 12 jurors needed to serve, judges will normally have two alternate jurors. This is done just in case one of the 12 jurors are unable to fulfill their duty to the courts/case.
This is exactly what happened to us this morning. Juror #3 was out so Alternate juror #1 dropped right in the slot. Alternate jurors listen to the entire case and can easily slide into a main juror slot at anytime assigned by the judge.
Also, I couldn’t pass up a grand view of Tower City Center looking so stately in the sunny Cleveland daylight.
If you get assigned to Jury Duty, bring your camera. Chances are, you’ll see some spectacular views of downtown #CLE.
BTW-Yesterday, the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Courts’ Cleveland APL Mobile Unit Program to bring puppies every other week so that jurors can play with them during their lunch break on Thursdays. Superb idea! Sadly, I had to catch up on a few emails so I didn’t have time to play with the puppies.
For our specific criminal case? Deliberations are still ongoing so it’s not over yet!
Main question in the deliberation rooms are guilty vs not guilty. That’s it. In these courts, the jury does not decide punishment – that’s only grand jury cases.
The judge explained in detail, the laws pertaining to the case. He reviewed all four counts in detail, gave definitions, and reminded us again that for our criminal case, we only decide guilty or not guilty on each of the charges.
So yes, if you can register to vote, you do possess the skills to be a juror!
Gotta get back to deliberating. I’m definitely earning my keep this week doing my civic duty!
Reporting live from the deliberation room…
In the coming months, I’ll be working closely with Cleveland Police on a special project.
Which divisions? I’ll be working closely with their Mounted Unit, K9 Teams, Airport Detail, Bomb Team, SWAT Team, and of course their Air unit (helo).
Awww yeah. All specialty teams!
So yes, you can expect these types of pictures.
Just trying to make a difference to a great community.
Reporting live…from…the barn…
In reviewing all the commercials from yesterday’s Superbowl – here’s my top 5.
Targeting their audience, Chevrolet knows how to play off manly pickup trucks. I would buy one if I wasn’t already going to buy a Chevrolet SUV.
I also found myself assessing my home safety measures after Nationwide made me question my ability as a parent. However, it did pull at a different target audience that is normally not addressed during sporting events.
Who doesn’t love a dog! But thanks to a mediocre beer conglomerate, we are all reminded that iconic horses that pull beer will save a lost dog. Thanks Budweiser.
The world is full of amazing gadgets and technology. In 2015, we need to dedicate more of our efforts to making sure these get implemented into everyday life. Thanks Microsoft and keep up the good work Braylon.
Good to see PIerce Brosnan again. Not what I expected…especially playing off his former life as 007. I would still not purchase a Kia.
Bonus-1: Thanks to my new job as a Dad, my daughter will definitely know that #LikeAGirl will mean amazing things. Thanks Always.
I’d love to hear your thoughts or your favorite commercials.
