A few of the 68th Medical Blackhawks

Just looking through a few pictures from my visit with the 68th Medical Detachment in Hawaii this morning.

Evac-001C

Just a slight different configuration for aeromedical patient care transport.

CrewChiefseat

Probably slightly less comfortable than a Stryker or Ferno cot huh?

Mahalos to the flight team for the hospitality.

Happy Aloha Friday everyone.

Detailed on a special project for CPD

In the coming months, I’ll be working closely with Cleveland Police on a special project.

Which divisions? I’ll be working closely with their Mounted Unit, K9 Teams, Airport Detail, Bomb Team, SWAT Team, and of course their Air unit (helo).

Awww yeah. All specialty teams!

So yes, you can expect these types of pictures.

How good is your selfie game?

Me? My selfie game is on fleek.

Look closely. Yep-that’s a selfie of a selfie. Boom.

Your welcome Pascal.

Additionally, Live with Kelly and Michael deemed this the “Summer Selfie” season complete with random Jersey bikini girls dancing. Yikes.

But yes Pascal is right, safety first! Reference this foreign selfie-safety info page.

Safety tip: Practice safe selfies. #SafetySur

640 Insta -> 1080 Insta #Instagram

Instagram just announced that it will go from 640×640 picture posts now to 1080 x 1080 picture posts.

This is most likely attributed to mobile hardware improvements since 2010 and camera phones now take excellent pictures. So to meet the new uploads and higher quality standards, Instagram changed their programming to allow users to include more.

So what does all that gobbledygook actually mean for the Instagrammer?

Before you could only post this type of image with marginal clarity (640 resolution).

Now, you can post this with better quality and better clarity (1080 resolution).

Bigger picture at a standard 1080 resolution, better clarity, and a much better story platform for your audience.

Picture border? Still square.

Time is short, so Gram good stuff.

To the best country in the world…

To the best country in the world…Happy 4th of July everyone!

Our nation who has relentlessly fought to be the home of the brave…because every true American bleeds red, white, and blue.

4thJuly-2015

And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world, ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.” – President Kennedy, 1960

Let freedom ring.

Pushing the envelope and advice

Not going to lie…I think I’ve been working too hard. I haven’t been getting enough sleep and I’ve been pushing the envelope a bit much.

Those on the inner circle know.

Leaders frequently walk alone.

Gah, I wish I had this view again.

On this Aloha Friday, I am reminded by my late Grandparents who frequently said to me, “stop and smell the roses.

I should listen more often.

Enjoy your Aloha Friday everyone.

July 2015 has crazy-town written all over it

June 2015 turned out to be pretty crazy…and July 2015 has crazy-town written all over it.

First week: I’ll be working on a few things for NW Ohio and their recent flooding. Most likely Public Information Officer response stuff. At the end of the week/weekend, I got a special project with Cleveland Police K-9 Teams, SWAT, Bomb Team, Air Unit, and Mounted Units. Finally back in Region-5!

Second week: I’ll be teaching the Ohio Emergency Management Agency’s Basic Public Information Officer’s Course and Joint Information Center/System in Medina County. Working the PIO magic for the state!

Third week: I’ll be teaching a weekend ICS-300 and a weekend ICS-400 in Ohio. If possible, I might sneak away during the week to Frankfort, Kentucky to pilot a new FEMA PIO Course in Region-4.

Fourth week: I’ll be finishing up the ICS-400 course and then coordinating a site visit and functional exercise for our NE Ohio PIO Task Force (NEO-PIO-TF) to one of the local news stations in the Cleveland area.

It’s still a bit hectic, but I am hoping to see some peace to my schedules soon.

Easy 4th of July safety tips #FireworksSafety

Safety tips? You bet!

Here’s some basic 4th of July Fireworks safety tips:

  • Safety tip: Make sure fireworks are legal in your area before buying or using them.
  • Safety tip: Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose handy in case of fire or other mishap.
  • Safety tip: Never allow young children to play with or ignite fireworks.
  • Safety tip: Always have an adult supervise fireworks activities.
  • Safety tip: Sparklers burn at temperatures of about 2,000 degrees – hot enough to melt some metals.

Thanks @Readygov #FireworksSafety

Happy safe 4th of July week/weekend everyone!
