Blizzard of 2015 meme – Hoard water, spam and bacon

Since we are talking about winter preparedness today, I am reminded about this meme created in 2015.

b8p8d6dimaagt9o

Yes, I said meme. It looks like a screen grab from a national news station, but it has been doctored up a bit. Obviously.

While I cannot support all the bullet points, I can tell you that first bullet point definitely on my list.

BTW-it’s Hoard water, SPAM, and bacon.

Long live the Oxford comma!

Presenting at the DHS FEMA 2016 National Training & Exercise Symposium

Heading out to teach at FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute (EMI) this week at the 2016 DHS/FEMA National Training and Exercise Symposium.

I am sure other Emergency Managers can attest, EMI is one of the best places to learn and build relationships with other professionals from across the country.

And yes, it is one of my most favorite places to teach.

Just like last year, I’m stoked to be invited to present again and I’m hoping to see a few friends too.

Cleveland Police, Cleveland FBI, A Special Wish Foundation, led the charge. But so many public safety agencies and officials that made this day possible.

I can’t thank them enough. All the planning was totally worth it.

Happy 2016 #NationalWeatherPersonsDay

Happy 2016 National Weather Persons Day!

This year, my favorite Meteorologist is Brooke Bingaman from the NWS-Sacramento Office in California.

NationalWeatherPersonsDay

@brookeBingaman and @rusnivek

She is an outstanding Meteorologist, rock solid social media peep, amazing presenter, and an extraordinary preparedness expert. Trust me peeps: Brooke. Is. Legit.

Follow her adventures as she’s doing some special event things for a big event this weekend.

BTW-My 2015 favorite Meteorologist Gary Garnet was just promoted as the Meteorologist in Charge at the National Weather Service Cleveland Office in Ohio. Well done Gary!

December final classes and special detail for big CLE event

After a decent November, December looks to close out the year with a few classes and one big event planned.

In the first week, I’ll be doing a few local classes in Ohio so Region-5 baby!

Second week, I’ll be headed back to Kentucky for some Emergency Management training! Back in Region-4!

The first part of the third week, I have a few classes in Michigan (back in Region-5 baby!). Last half of the week, I’ve been assigned a special CPD detail for an extraordinary Make-A-Wish Foundation event. With so much bad news lately, I can’t wait for this huge event as it will be very special for all of NE Ohio.

And during the fourth and fifth week of December, I will likely head back to Illinois and HQ to close out class schedules and logistics for the year.

Peeking into 2016, I’m dreading January’s five different region schedule.

Gigantic fireball likely #DFT2015

How big of a fire could it be?

123

Well, that escalated quickly.

Maybe I should wear all of my protective gear. Check out this professional. Shorts? No gloves? No problem!

Winner winner 3rd degree burns!!!!

What do the pros have to say? Here’s the NFPA’s fact sheet that says don’t do it.

Grrrrrrrrrreat – I’m gonna die.

Soooooooooo, here’s tonight’s prevention steps:

  1. Thawing my frozen turkey tonight in my fridge.
  2. Checking my fire extinguishers (yes, that’s plural)
  3. Debate on using my talon hook or my halligan for rapid turkey extraction (I think I’m favoring the Talon hook bec it’s longer).

What’s the number for 9-1-1?
