The August deets in 2 regions

August rushing in so fast that I almost forgot to give my details for the month.

First week, I’ll be teaching a packed ICS-300 class to local public safety professionals, county representatives, state officials, and Department of Defense / US Military assets. All in prep for an upcoming NSSE.

Second week, I will be facilitating the quarterly NorthEast Ohio Public Information Officers (NEO-PIO) Training at WKYC. Latter half of the week, I’ll be testing the Continuity of Operations (COOP) plan at the new Task Force’s Base of Operations (BOO). To paraphrase: COOPing at the BOO.

Third week, I will be attending a class on behalf of the State of Ohio based around Risk Analysis for Fusion Centers.

Fourth week, I will be teaching basic social media in Maryland and Delaware. Also likely to attend a few meetings in Washington DC at FEMA HQ too. Best behavior indeed!

The beginning of the fifth week, I will be working with Cleveland Police as we hit another law enforcement outreach campaign. Latter half of the week, I will be teaching the State of Ohio Emergency Management Agency’s G-290: Basic Public Information Officer course at Medina County EMA.

It’s already a busy 2 region month. Hope to see you out there!

Ahhh another packed July!

Hello July! Is it really 3Q already?!?

First week I’ll be teaching another FEMA’s Basic PIO Course with JIC/JIS at WTFD. (How about them acronyms!)

Second week will be another ICS-400 course in the Emergency Operations Center

Along with another JIC/JIS course, third week will be spent at the COOP site. Wheeee.

Fourth week will include another PIO exercise specifically focusing in on social media. I’ll also need to confirm our 3Q PIO/PAO Training with NBC for our TaskForce.

Lots of planning meeting sprinkled into the mix and randomly working out of the COOP site will test operational readiness. Fun times.

May we head into June 2017?

May is out like trout and June has come in with a slew of activities as well as the 2017 NBA Finals!

First week I’ll be in Missouri teaching my favorite class – Social Media Tools & Techniques and a functional social media exercise in Columbus. Yes I know, that means I won’t be attending the 2017 UASI Conference in Buffalo. #Boooo. However, my free time will be spent at Game-3 and Game-4 of the 2017 NBA Championships. #GoCavs!!!!!

Second week I will be teaching the FEMA EMI Incident Management Team Plans Section Chief Course in Cincinnati. With so many members from USAR Ohio Task Force-1 (including Schulmann) attending, it’s going to be a fun class. Are you attending?

Third week I think I got blessed with the approval to take the IMT Incident Commanders course at the home EOC in Columbus. Lemme see if I can login this time (Password “JOSHUA”).

Fourth week will be doing some tactical training including quals. #pewpew

Honestly, I just hope to stay afloat this month.

Additionally, June 2017 will serve as the foundation month for the 2018 training schedule. Who’s ready for more classes?!?!?!?

Get your learn on!

POTUS Proclaims May 21 through May 27, 2017, as Emergency Medical Services Week

The White House
Office of the Press Secretary
For Immediate Release

President Donald J. Trump Proclaims May 21 through May 27, 2017, as Emergency Medical Services Week

EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK, 2017

– – – – – – –

BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

A PROCLAMATION

During Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, we express our gratitude for the hundreds of thousands of skilled personnel who help save lives in communities across the United States each year.  Through the hard work and dedication of these career and volunteer first responders, Americans receive the finest emergency medical treatment in their most vulnerable moments.  We also honor those EMS providers who have made the ultimate sacrifice and given their lives in the line of duty.

Day or night, in every city, suburb, rural community, or wilderness area, our Nation relies upon EMS providers to respond to every kind of emergency situation to save lives and reduce suffering.  In January, when more than 70 tornadoes touched down in Georgia and Mississippi, injuring many, EMS responders were there to help.  In March, when wildfires threatened Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Texas, taking lives and forcing thousands from their homes, our EMS personnel were there providing urgent medical care and patient transportation.  Last month, when flooding and tornadoes ravaged Missouri, Arkansas, and Texas, EMS personnel once more came to their neighbors’ aid.  Whether they are assisting during natural disasters or providing lifesaving care after car accidents, heart attacks, sports injuries, or violent crime, EMS personnel respond to tens of millions of requests for help each year in our country.  We rest easier knowing that they stand ready to answer the call.

Over the past 50 years, our Nation’s EMS system has evolved with ever-developing medical, transportation, and communications technologies to meet the changing needs of our communities.  The EMS Agenda 2050 project — a joint effort by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Homeland Security, and the EMS community — will help develop a vision for meeting our communities’ future emergency medical services needs and improve the health of all Americans.  We commend these efforts to develop innovative new treatments, advance and adapt medical skills, establish stronger professional standards, and promote public education and health.  This week, we thank our EMS professionals for their sustained commitment to excellence and dedication to service, and share our hopes for a bright future that will make us all safer and healthier.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim May 21 through May 27, 2017, as Emergency Medical Services Week.  I encourage all Americans to observe this occasion by showing their support for local EMS professionals through appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this nineteenth day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand seventeen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-first.

Me Oh My Oh May 2017!

Me Oh My Oh May 2017!

First week I’ll be presenting at the 2017 Association of Floodplain Managers annual conference in Kansas City. Region-7 peeps!

Second week will be in the State of Nevada Emergency Operations Center for a set of social media courses including my favorite PER-344 – Social Media Tools & Techniques! Region-9 baby! Sadly, I will not be attending the National SAA conference.

Third week will be spent teaching ICS-300 in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Who’s excited for Intermediate Incident Command System (ICS) for Expanding Incidents?!?

Fourth week will be spent in southern Ohio in a PIO course with on camera interviews and crisis response exercise.

Trust me, it’s likely going to be a busy tough May.
