Thanks to Colorado and my new Region-8 peeps!
I had a great time at the State Emergency Operations Center and look forward to seeing many of you in a disaster. Yeah, that sounds weird to say huh?

My first time in Region-8 = AWESOME.
Mahalos!

Really enjoying the All-American themes lately. And this week has been no exception.

It was suggested that I get an aerial perspective when I depart. So clearing it with Ellsworth Approach, our pilots planned a quick figure 8 pass on our departure out of RAP.

I only wish I had my DSLR. Don’t worry Maverick, the pattern wasn’t full. Chillax!
Special thanks to the All-American flight crew today #Merica !
Now on to Florida!
June will be a lighter schedule as I wind down on a few projects.
First week: I’ll be at the OEMA Basic Public Information Officers course including the JIC/JIS part. On camera interviews for everyone! (Region-5)
Second week: I am assigned to South Dakoka. My first time in FEMA Region-8 baby!
Third week: I will be in Florida (Region-4) piloting FEMA/NDPTC new social media presentation.
Fourth week: I’ll be back in Ohio and I *might* be working in an EOC or a field ICP.
Midstream in the third week of 2014 National Preparedness Month.
“Be Disaster Aware, Take Action to Prepare”
Are you drowning in these preparedness tips yet?
This week’s theme is consistent with FEMA’s National Preparedness Campaign: Build an Emergency Kit
#16: One Gallon of water per day / per person. Calculated for you = 48 bottles of water per person in your #Prepared2014 kit! #NatlPrep
So let’s do some simple calculations now.
1 bottled water = 8 oz of water
16 ounces of water = 1 pint of water
8 pints of water = 1 gallon of water
The recommendation is that every person has a gallon of water per day per person.
*****That means you need at least 16 bottles of water per person per day.*****
If you just whispered ERMAHGERD….then you should buy some water today.
This one is not negotiable…get it now. A case of bottled water is relatively cheap…like $3 for a case. Cheap. Do it.
Few tips once you get your water
Keep in mind, during an emergency, this is a very common sight.
So don’t let this happen to you.
Get your preparedness kit with water together today!
Great story by Fox 8 Cleveland Anchor/Reporter Mark Zinni.
OUTSTANDING save by Cleveland Police all caught on camera thanks to the new body camera technology
Great job Cleveland Police Officer Ismael Quintana!

Schnikies – it’s December.
And my assignment card seems to be fairly full. This month I’ll be in FEMA Region 10, 8, 9, 3, and of course Region-5.
Also this month, I should be submitting my paperwork for my FEMA Professional Continuity Practioner’s certification.
Looking forward to the change of scenery with my travels this month. As always, any peeps want to catch up or #Tweetup, let me know.
Happy holidays everyone!
