May we head into June 2017?

May is out like trout and June has come in with a slew of activities as well as the 2017 NBA Finals!

First week I’ll be in Missouri teaching my favorite class – Social Media Tools & Techniques and a functional social media exercise in Columbus. Yes I know, that means I won’t be attending the 2017 UASI Conference in Buffalo. #Boooo. However, my free time will be spent at Game-3 and Game-4 of the 2017 NBA Championships. #GoCavs!!!!!

Second week I will be teaching the FEMA EMI Incident Management Team Plans Section Chief Course in Cincinnati. With so many members from USAR Ohio Task Force-1 (including Schulmann) attending, it’s going to be a fun class. Are you attending?

Third week I think I got blessed with the approval to take the IMT Incident Commanders course at the home EOC in Columbus. Lemme see if I can login this time (Password “JOSHUA”).

Fourth week will be doing some tactical training including quals. #pewpew

Honestly, I just hope to stay afloat this month.

Additionally, June 2017 will serve as the foundation month for the 2018 training schedule. Who’s ready for more classes?!?!?!?

This busy 5-7-8-6-5 December will close out 2016

Slight delayed as I was OCONUS – but December is here! December is here!

First week, I’ll be presenting at the 2016 County Engineers Association of Ohio’s Annual Winter Conference. I’ll then be on a special detail to the Blue Springs Police Department (Missouri). And then teaching some social media in Topeka for the State of Kansas Emergency Management. Region-7 baby!

Second week, I’ll be back at the State of Colorado’s Emergency Operations Center to teach the new FEMA/NDPTC social media tools and techniques course. Region-8 is great!

Third week, I’ll head down to Region-6 to Baton Rouge to teach another FEMA/NDPTC social media tools and techniques course.

And then the fourth week, I’ll be in southern Ohio teaching a detailed public information course and crisis communications workshop. Back in Region-5!

I got a police escort into Ferguson, Missouri today.

For those of you that remember, during the civil unrest, I pushed some info on Ferguson in December 2014. Check it out here.

And yes, the GPS coordinates still match up to S. Florissant Rd with the metadata previously found.

Additionally, GPS and USNG match up too.

In retrospect, Florissant is a large street and a relatively large open area.

July 2016 includes classes, a deployment and a big event in Cleveland

July is here. OMG. It’s crunch time!

First week I’ll be in Cleveland for a few planning meetings and off to Chicago for my favorite ER MD’s retirement party.

Second week I’ll be deployed with DHS/FEMA for External Affairs.

Third week is the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Cleveland where I’ll be supporting our all-hazards public safety professionals.

Fourth week I’ll head down to Missouri to teach some social media in Region-7 baby! Indeed no rest for the weary.

With the RNC in Cleveland, July will be an incredibly challenging month for all public safety peeps.

Recently, we have seen a great increase in earthquakes across the country. From small to extremely large earthquakes, we should all be prepared – so I highly recommend that you participate in today’s Earthquake ShakeOut training/exercise/drill.

So on Thursday October 16, 2014 at 10:16am – practice your earthquake safety procedures with 9 other states in our region using these three easy steps:

Drop-Cover-and-Hold-On

1. DROP to the ground

2. Take COVER under a sturdy table or desk, if possible, and protect your head and neck

3. HOLD ON until the shaking stops

Following these 3 easy steps will help protect and you during an earthquake.

ShakeOut is coordinated by the Central U.S. Earthquake Consortium and the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

See, even the cool kids are doing it.

After the most recent events that just occurred in the Philippines on Tuesday, I highly recommend that you participate in today’s Earthquake ShakeOut exercise.

“This isn’t California…Ohio doesn’t have earthquakes…”

WRONG McFly! The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) have recorded six earthquakes so far this year: three earthquakes in March and three earthquakes in July. Ohio had a total of four earthquakes in 2012.

Surprised? I know you are.
