Definitely one of the most diverse All-Hazard classes I had in a long while. Participants represented Emergency Management, Fusion Center, Public Works, Land & Natural Resources, Fire, Health Department, EMS, Private sector, HAZMAT, Police, Veteran’s Affairs, Intelligence, US Coast Guard PIAT, National Weather Service, CERT, and PIOs / PAOs.

California has working closely w/ the National Guard to provide support to wildland firefighters.
Here’s a C-130 retrofitted slightly differently to carry different payloads to support operations. This year’s wildfires are bad. Glad that many partners in public safety have trained and exercised closely together to prepare for such an occasion.
Working in consort, this all-hazards response is making a difference every day.

Great first day in our flood course here at Ohio EMA in Columbus.
I am fortunate that the participants in this class have outstanding stories from previous declarations and experiences from local, state, and regional responses during emergency flooding.
Some have shared their 500 year flooding stories from just the past 7 years (and clearly, it’s time to revisit the categorization and re-term these floods).
Here, FEMA staff, Ohio EMA staff, Ohio National Guard, and local Fire/Rescue services collectively discuss creative options to better serve numerous vulnerable population communities during an emergency evacuation during flooding.
IMHO, I really enjoy seeing this type of All-Hazardy professionals at the table.
Collaborating early can only strengthen joint response during any disaster.
Please thank those who served. Take a moment to remember those who have given their life for your freedom.

SitRep for West Virginia Chemical Spill (EM-3366) – 01-14-14- at 1030.
The chemical spill (up to 7,500 gallons) into the Elk River in Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia continues to dissipate. “Do not use water” order remains in effect for approximately 65,000. Chemical identified as 4-methycyclohexane methanol (MCHM).
