There’s some-fin special about your situational awareness

Always keep your wits about you!

Maintaining good situational awareness is critical for any professional. So to help illustrate this, I submit this Thursday gem.

I’d make some sharp joke about between two ferns…

I was out patrolling and arrested a street shark…you know, just some dorsal profiling…

No lie, he thought I was jawsome….

OK OK OK…I’m here all night!

Be safe my peeps and maintain good situational awareness!

Sharks in the HOV lanes? Cmon! #SharkWeek #2018

And for the second disaster trick, this picture….

IT AIN’T REAL!!!

Don’t be a dingbat, stop sharing this fake picture during disasters and/or flooding.

Aaaaaand yes, an easy twofer here too: TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN!!!

Be a good steward of social media information.

FEMA launches Prepare with Pedro at the 2018 Youth Preparedness Council

FEMA Region V Administrator James Joseph was in Washington DC today for the Youth Preparedness Council at Red Cross HQ.

Great to see Ready.Gov partnering with everyone on today’s events.

Additionally, download the free Prepare with Pedro workbook for kids here.

July 2018

July is going to be busy as we launch into 3Q 2018!

First week: full of assessments, paperwork, skills verification, and maybe a big press conference.

Second week: Another fun ICS-300 class. This time, lots to discuss in the TTX.

Third week: county functional exercises and a last minute debris management course.

Fourth week: full scale county exercises at the Emergency Operations Center.

Likely some big news as we add on to the team.

Stay safe everyone!

Game 4 of the 2018 NBA Finals

Starting game-4 of the 2018 NBA Finals in Cleveland, Ohio-

That’s right, let’s get some IAP action on for the Cleveland Cavaliers vs the Golden State Warriors!

Like all good Emergency Management actions – all briefings done and documents like the comprehensive IAP helps bring everyone together on the same operational plan.

As field PIOs, we are out and about during the game.

Half time inside FanFest was quite busy.

Lots of interesting people out and about.

Glad to see so many Cleveland Cavaliers’ fans out here to support the home team.

Even ran into a few media folks from California as well as locals who were out supporting the teams too.

Sur and Livingston

Sur and Livingston

In the end, the final outcome of the game was not so fun…

…but incredibly proud to work with so many all-hazards partners in public safety for the end of the 2018 NBA Finals.

Glad to be supporting solid professionals.

Bob, dance us out of the EOC will ya?!?

See you in 2019!

June 2018 in the AOR

Dunzo with May so lets head into June!

First week I’ll be presenting at the Northeast Ohio MERT Symposium in Lake County, Ohio. then off to some Emergency Operations Plan Development & Review class and Emergency Planning process classes. However, my free time will be spent at Game-3 and Game-4 of the 2018 NBA Championships. #GoCavs #WhateverItTakes!!!!!

Second week will be some planning as well as time for my position paper on disaster communications

Third week will be Volunteer and Donations Management as well as some logistics training with my state peeps.

Fourth week will be a solid week training at the EOC as well as a quick class in the Disaster Assistance Process.

Solid month in the region in the AOR.

Making the jump from 32 to 2 is tough, but I’m up for any challenge.
