Lots to add in 2014 because the class was last updated in 2005.

Also got a chance to see this weirdo too.

Press Release – Five-Section Aerials

Dublin, OH **For Immediate Release**

Date: July 22, 2014

RE: Sutphen Voluntarily Removing 5-Section Aerial Devices From Service

Sutphen Corporation has announced that the Company is instructing customers to remove all SPH 100, SP 110, SPI 112, and SAI 110 Aerial devices from service, until further notice, effective immediately. The Company states that customers are instructed to use the affected apparatus in the capacity of an engine or support vehicle only. The Company will stay in close contact with its customers to report details and when the units may be place back in service. “At this time, our priority is the safety of our firefighters,” says Drew Sutphen, President of the Company. “In light of the recent incidents, we recognize there is an immediate need to take precautionary action. I would rather take every precaution necessary than to put firefighters at risk.” The Company states that it will be contacting customers with the affected units personally to inform them of the events that have occurred and the steps that are being taken to get the units back in to service in a timely manner. “We feel the need to personally assure our customers that we are working to investigate and correct the situation,” Drew continues. Sutphen Corporation is an Ohio based privately held, family owned business that manufactures custom built emergency response vehicles. The company’s headquarters are located in suburban Dublin, Ohio northwest of Columbus. For more information contact the sales office.

No lie…it’s July!

July is here!

I’ve been detailed to several functions this month as well as a few classes.

Most of the month will be spent in the home state Ohio! Don’t worry. Still showing the love for FEMA Region-V.

I am hoping for a quick deployment to Region 4 again, but I’ll keep you posted.

I’ve also taken a new position as well (more on that to come later).

Well, I can’t believe we are already into the second half of 2014 already.

Be safe everyone!

In the EOC…and a gigantic sinkhole

Seriously, a pretty perfect morning here at the Emergency Operations Center.

Oh, and they have a gigantic sinkhole here which sounds pretty bad. EMA Director Keck will be briefing us this AM.

Sounds like the news has already caught wind of it and OEMA has briefed on the situation this AM.

Its #EMSWeek2014 – We need your help in roadway safety #Paramedic #EMT #Firefighter

It’s #EMSWeek2014 – Stressing safety to everyone is an important part of our job.

We are seeing more car crashes due to distracted driving. Put down your phone and pay attention to the road. As emergency responders, I would hate to meet you for the first time like this…

P1210014

Worse yet, we don’t want to get hit.

Distracted driving can injure and kill. Remember, don’t text and drive.

Please, share this message with others and stress the importance of roadway safety.

And again, thank all your first responders for their dedicated service.
